Not bad. January 2 and the 2020 season has started. I usually don’t go out in winter time. Too much tempting snow in the woods where we live. Cross country skiing and snowboarding with the kids. But today I couldn’t resist. As long as the temperature is more than 7 degrees it’s fine. I go out one hour drive South of Oslo. The place is called Kurefjorden, close to Larkollen.
When windsurfing was all that mattered in the 1990’s I windsurfed all year, but now I as I am in the 40’s I have gotten a little more hesitant.
Kurefjorden is nice. Rigging on a lawn just by the sea. I get flash backs to Hawaii. Luxury.
Winter means gloves
I made myself a pair of wet handgloves. Really simply to make. If you have an old wet suit, just cut and saw. Have a look at the video how I made them.
Rusty gybes
I only have two sets of equipment. A 7.0 Severne racing with a solid carbon boom and carbon mast. RRD Xfire 114 liters and 42 cm fin. When this gets too big, the 5.0 North Hero and Goya 87 liter wave board take over.
So, today it’s gonna be the 7.0. Allways a little nervous that I will break something when I rig, but it never happens. Maybe it’s time to replace the line holding the boom. It’s 2 years old, men it still holds.
A few people are out. Most of them are pushing their 50’s. Big jackets, woollen caps and smiling.
As in the 90’s I experience that the wet gloves work perfect. You make a hole inside the palm of you hand so that the grip is good. It’s the fingers that get cold and need to be covered. If the gloves are too warm, you just flip the gloves off your fingers.
Our and a half windsurfing this January with the low hanging sun over the horizon. Great. Maybe some skiing later this afternoon.
January is also kick off for blogging. I take a look at the year we just left behind. Since we are entering a new decade, I did a decade review of what went well for the ocean and what did not.

Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
