Last session before winter

7 degrees, forecast 15-16 m/s. Christmas approaching and I have time to go. I go. It’s 9 am, I get in the car and pick up my gear at the windsurfing club. No reason to bring the 7.8 racing. 5.4 Taka or 4.1 Goya should work well. And my new acquisition, Starboard quad 92 liters. It’s a 10 year old model. But considering I started windsurfing in 1984, board shapes and technology from 2014 is more than good enough.

Some guys are using 3.9. They are a little smaller than me and the wind measuring stations nearby report 14-16 m/s, which for me is not 4.1 – and definitely not when it’s cold. I need to stay on the board.

Works perfect. A little rusty, and the sofa and office chair hours lately are felt in my body. I go out and head towards Sletter islands and take a break at Middle Sletter. I realize my harness line on the one side is teared apart.

These islands look a little bit like Scotland. Green, gentle hills, windy, a few birds, no people.

Looking around on the beach I find a lobster cage with some ropes attached to it. Should work. I take one of them and put it on the boom. Works fine.

I go out, go as fast as I can and feel my body and brain just wakes up.

Now, I am ready for the final leg of 2024 work and Christmas preparations can start.
