Energy

Close-to-shore offshore wind sites globally could provide almost 36,000 TWh of electricity per year, which is very close to the global electricity demand projected for 2040.
Actually, the potential is much higher if you include the oceans as a whole: 420,000 TWh.
Ocean energy systems are still at an early stage of development, with a number of prototype wave and tidal current devices being explored.

Burning offshore wind blades

About 300 GW of floating offshore wind will be installed globally in the next 30 years, requiring around 20,000 turbines, each mounted on top of floating structures weighing more than 5,000 tonnes  and secured with so many mooring lines that if they were tied end-to-end, they would wrap around the world twice.

China is responsible for 33% of the world’s energy-related CO2 emissions today

This will reduce to 22% by 2050, a reduction in annual emissions of 8 GtCO2 (three times the size of Europe’s decarbonization over the same period)

China’s power mix shifts from 30% renewable today to 88% by 2050
